From Palermo to the Plain of Catania to discover the most interesting local agricultural realities, learn about the organizations that manage the water resources of the region, understand the challenges of a difficult and wonderful territory, rich in history and artistic and cultural beauty.
In the morning, arrival at Palermo airport. Meeting with our guide and transfer to the city center.
Unusual visit of Palermo: with the guide, you will discover the historic center of Palermo, the local markets and the typical street food that has made Palermo famous all over the world. The itinerary includes several stops with different tastings: arancini, pane e panelle, pane cunzato, cannoli, etc. A journey to discover the true Palermo, through its flavors and aromas.
The tastings of our food tour are very rich and replace the classic restaurant lunch.
In the afternoon: visit to DAM ROSAMARINA, 45 km from Palermo, and then to Caccamo Castle. About three kilometers from the town center of Caccamo, which dominates the valley below with its imposing medieval castle, you can admire in all its splendor the Rosamarina Lake, the largest artificial basin in Sicily, formed as a result of the damming of the San Leonardo River (from 1973 to 1992) for drinking water purposes. It is worth noting that the works began in 1980, then interrupted from 1983 until 1987, also for reasons of mafia and corruption.
We continue with the visit to Caccamo Castle from which you can enjoy a splendid panoramic view of the dam.
Overnight stay in a farmhouse/hotel in the area (between Campofelice di Roccella and Cerda).
In the morning, visit to an agricultural production that requires very little water – siccagno tomato, a historic Sicilian production. Visit to an important cooperative about 100 km from Palermo.
For lunch, we reach Gangi, one of the most beautiful villages in Italy.
We resume the bus journey towards Cefalù, a picturesque seaside village that offers visitors a wonderful spectacle of lights and colors.
Visit to the magnificent 1131 Norman Cathedral, a UNESCO World Heritage site, and the medieval “Lavatoio” (washhouse).
Overnight stay in an agriturismo/hotel in the area (between Campofelice di Roccella and Cerda).
Departure to Catania, where you can visit the Plain of Catania with its irrigation system managed by the reclamation consortium. Lush citrus groves stretching as far as the eye can see, interspersed with fields of vegetables and fodder crops, and in the background, Mount Etna smoking: this is the picture-postcard scenery that greets those travelling along the Catania-Palermo motorway crossing the Plain of Catania. This reality of stability and safety of productive settlements is the result of a constant and patient activity of hydraulic and irrigation reclamation that has been deployed for decades and has given life to the most important agricultural development hub in Sicily.
Visit to a citrus farm that produces with very little water consumption through a centralized system.

In the afternoon: visit to Catania, the via Etnea, Palazzo Biscari, etc.
Dinner and overnight stay in Catania.
In the morning: visit to Limoneto with production of Lemon Igp – with irrigation system near Catania.
Typical lunch.
Afternoon: visit to Pachino, renowned for its Tomato production.
Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
