Morning: Departure for La Prévière to visit an estate with a nursery specializing in the cultivation of large ornamental plants. The nursery has about fifty different species, including camellias, of which it is a world expert! The estate extends over 5 hectares and has two specialties: heath plants and topiaries. You will visit a unique nursery in France thanks to the rare specimens of ornamental trees and shrubs it supplies to the largest parks and prestigious sites.
Afternoon: After lunch, visit the park and gardens of Château de Montriou, a family property whose 15th-century chapel is classified as a historical monument. You will discover the 19th-century vegetable garden, the collection of cucurbits and dahlias, but also the Italian garden, the princess’s garden, and you can admire a forest of oak trees (pilot for the Pays de Loire).
Return to the hotel in Brissac for dinner and overnight stay.
Morning: breakfast. Visit to a company that experiments, multiplies, and commercializes vegetable seeds for professionals. The French subsidiary of the Dutch group is experiencing good growth in the national market. Focusing on innovation and quality, the Anjou-based company is one of the leaders in the sector of seeds for cabbage, carrots, and onions. It is also one of the main producers of “organic” seeds. In the Netherlands, it is one of the oldest seed companies.
Afternoon: free time in the city of Angers, which you can explore at your own leisure.
Return to the hotel for dinner and overnight stay.
Morning: visit to a tomato producer in a heated greenhouse of a cooperative. This cooperative brings together vegetable farmers in the Nantes region with the aim of limiting intermediaries while maintaining the quality and freshness of fruits and vegetables. You will meet a manager who will introduce you to the cooperative and show you how they cultivate tomatoes during the visit to their heated glass greenhouses.
Afternoon: after lunch, visit to the CTIFL research center in Carquefou. You will discover the various research programs carried out on cucumbers, energy, greenhouse equipment, as well as integrated protection under cover and in open fields.
At the end of the day, return by bus to the hotel. Dinner and overnight stay.
After breakfast, transfer to Nantes airport for the return flight to Italy.
